In this message, we\u2019ll look at the prophet Nathan in 2 Samuel 12 and the apostle Paul in the letters to the Corinthians, and ask: \u201cAre the Old and New Testaments really contradictory?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the Old Testament, King David commits a serious sin. The prophet Nathan doesn\u2019t confront him directly, but tells a story about a rich man who steals a poor man\u2019s lamb. When David reacts with anger, Nathan quietly says, \u201cYou are that man\u201d (2 Samuel 12). This moment awakens David\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the New Testament, the church in Corinth faces public immorality that threatens its health. Paul writes, \u201cRemove that person from among you\u201d (1 Corinthians 5). But he doesn\u2019t stop there. When repentance is seen, he urges the church to \u201cforgive, comfort, and reaffirm love\u201d (2 Corinthians 2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nathan speaks to an individual; Paul addresses a community.
