At first, this sounds like a happy ending. But the real issue comes after that. Naaman promised to serve the God of Israel. However, because of his job, he had to bow in the temple of the idol Rimmon to support the king of Aram. He did not believe in that god, but he had to join the ceremony to keep his position.
Naaman asked Elisha, \u201cMay the Lord forgive me for this.\u201d Elisha answered, \u201cGo in peace\u201d (in Hebrew: Lech le-shalom<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
Most scholars say this is a word of blessing, not a judgment about right or wrong. It means, \u201cDecide with your own conscience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
