In those times, people believed they must be \u201cclean\u201d to come near God. If someone had a skin problem or if clothes or houses had mold, they were called \u201cunclean.\u201d Priests checked these things and decided what to do. Sometimes they ordered isolation or a ceremony to make the person clean again. So \u201cTzaraath\u201d was not a medical word.
